Hi everyone

I have just found this allotment site and so far I think I may be the only one from Devon to join. So, a bit about me. I have a 1/2 acre garden, so not technically an allotment. However, I do grow masses of vegetables which I care for lovingly, while any flower shrubs have to take care of themselves.
The last couple of weeks I have had to water the plants as the ground has been so dry, but today the rains came (with a vengeance - complete with thunder) so I only have to water the greenhouse. This year I have not been able to start most of my seeds off early as my old greenhouse succumbed to the winter gales and collapsed. I now have a brilliant 8' x 12' new one, and although I don't think that it looks as solid as my old Cedar frame, I am sure it will live up to its guarantee. Time will tell. I have just been given (by the other half) a new tractor mower with a trailer and roller to attach to it. I ventured into the paddock this morning with a view to rolling some of the dry ground which is badly rutted. The rain had not had much impact on the ground and it was still rock hard so unable to roll. Will try again tomorrow as we are due more rain.
My next project is to get a Keder greenhouse. This is a kind of polytunnel but with straight sides and bubble type plastic. As hubby has already bought the tractor mower, I think I had better wait a couple of months before telling him how much this is going to cost!!!!
A friend has given me some Huckleberry plants which have taken off and are growing wildly. However, the berries have now turned from green to black so must be nearly ready to ripen. Does anybody know what I should do with the berries now? The berries are about the size of a small marble. She only bought the seeds because they looked interesting in a seed catalogue. Now, we don't know what to do with them.
