seed potatoes to buy or not to buy???

Tanya's picture

Well its that time of year again where the allotment shed sends out the order forms for seed potatoes, pea, onions etc.
Now after ordering for the last 3 years I have been thinking can I save some on this years potatoes crop and use them next year?????
Any body got any tips on doing this? Lottyman?

Just had a brilliant 4 hours down the plot with no kids bliss.
All my spuds are now up,dried and stored. Alittle later than usual but some nice sizes too.
I managed to dig some of what was my pumpkin area . Get my garlic and onions in too plus I even took all the weeds/grass roots to the tip on the way home.

first time I`ve been to the plot in two weeks, but only got an hour down there, managed to dig up some more earlies spuds 15lb in total from 6 plants some really big ones too . Lots of carrots , beetroot, peas, spinach.
Weeds aren`t to bad at the moment. Thank goodness as we are having monthly inspections.
Also had my first cucumber for this year good size out of the greenhouse.

The 2nd photo is my little boy and this is what summer and hayfever does to him. So the plot isn`t the place for him :(
