All is doing well.
I am still picking loverly runner beans we must have had about 50lb if not more from just 12 plants! Mind you am getting a bit sick of them now and the freezer is over flowing. We grew Pea-beans for the first time (No I had never heard of them before either} they were delicious, a bit like mange tout but nicer. We also grew butter beans they are still green at the moment so we have to leave them until they dry out and go yellow skinned, we hadn't grown them before either but it's easy, just like runners. Slowly we are manuring our empty beds either with horse s**t or seawseed which gets delivered, Our plot is still fairly full with brassicca's leeks spuds ,swede, beetroot, various beans some fruits, sprouts carrots and odd salad bits, considering this is our first year I thin k we have done pretty well!
Even had time to make a scarecrowess, hense my avitar lucious lotty who is a parody of myself, Hubby is obsessed with Briggs and Stratton engines and bits similar and solar panels, now he has finished building the shed and greenhouse he tinkers with odd bits of technology no matter how old!!!!!!!

Runner-Beans
luciouslotty Posted at 06:15 on Wed, 09/16/2009I started mine in the greenhouse in March, They were planted out in well manured soil, which I topped up once they were in, I also fed them every fortnight with seaweed extract. I had blackfly but sprayed them with a suitable bug killer.
Other than that I haven't any idea what else can be don other than regular picking.
Better luck next year.
