hello everyone,

i took hold of my allotment 3 weeks ago now and we`r in the process of clearing it still. we have planted our early pots and have been given some raspberries and strawberries. we also have our frames up ready for our runner beans and peas and they are growing nicely at home. we have already been given a greenhouse which is all up apart from 2 pieces of glass and next with that is to dig out for a solar heat sink.

we r loving it and my hubby is getting quite obbsesive about it,
but all in very good fun.

it will be nice getting to know fellow gardeners

New allotment

Hi

I am a complete newbie, just literally got my allotment this morning. I have been to see it, many years ago the site was the original allotment site for the village, but back in the 1920-30's they moved to a new site. Now they have re designated this field back for allotments. A farmer was bought in to turn the soil and the plots laid out. I have been to see mine, it looks to have loads of stones. What would be the best way to proceed, and what should l start to plant?
I am really looking forward to eating my own produce.
Any and all advice appreciated. I would also like to be pesticide free. So what plants should l be planting with the veggies to stop the slugs etc from attacking them?
