Anyone got their spuds in yet?
It seems too cold (I'm in the Lakes) but I'v always put them in at Easter before - is it just my imagination that its colder than usual, or is it just me getting old?
Sue

Hi
mine earlies have been in for n3 to 4 weeks and are just starting to break through, I'm further south than most of you (Jersey) so I guess i get a head start of a week or two on a lot of you. Mind you commercial growers have been planting for 2 months under polythene.
Lates i guess i will plant in 2 or 3 weeks once i get some other stuff in like onions.
did you watch Gardeners world on good friday?
they put all of their spuds in last week to try and get a go start before blight hits this year.
put earlies, lates in at the same time fingers crossed, had allotment for only three weeks, been given some really good advice from fellow allotmenteers, all different. If nothing happens i will buy a sack and pretend.
I put the rest of my spuds in the begining of the Easter holidays.
I've only just got mine in the post from the seed catalogue so like Miss Daisy I am putting nearly earlies and mains in at the same time while crossing my fingers
still having frost at night here in hertfordshire! ground now warmer so will put them in at the weekend, not going to take a chance on planting maincrop tatties at the same time will set them later as usual. My soil is clay and takes a while to warm up. Have just sown carrots and beetroot and covered with fleece, should be OK
first site of early spuds this week (plants 27th March) still a risk of frost so keeping the covered
