the pond weed from the pond in the wildlife area has been going a little mad, and some has been removed. My question- can i put the pond weed into the compost?
I havent seen it listed in any of my books on the 'good to compost' list, but i havent seen it on any 'not to compost' lists either.
What does everyone think?
Thanks all,
Mimmee

Composted Pondweed

Hello Mimmee
Mix your pond weed with some thing a bit drier put it into a compost bin stood in full sun and it will be ready in about 6-8 weeks so get cracking while the sun is shining
Happy gardening

Or

Last year I used it fresh around my pumpkins etc as a mulch, put it out on a sunny day and you wil be amazed how quickly it drys out and rots down. It doesn't smell half as bad as you think it might either.

I also mulch my whole fruit patch with grass cuttings, currently they are half a wellie deep and the fruit really benefit from it.

Regards
Hayley
