Obtain a good quality spade then get the edge sharpened so that it cuts like a knife
search through your new plot for any glass bricks bits of wood etc and remove to the cartroad end
Take your sharpened spade and skim off to ground level all the weed and undergrowth and dispose of it by whatever means available Tip,green bin, fire etc
Then and only then when the ground is clear start to dig no more than 2hours per day if you are not used to it. Leave it rough for winter frost etc to break it down
If you are eager to plant an area next spring cover with as much weed repressant material as you can afford but do not be temted to use old carpet as you can finish up with disasterous results
When it gets nearer planting time I'll tell you about seed preparation and what to do next. Any information in the meantime please ask
