Is it ok to put stable (or even unstable) manure in our composting bins? I've been veg gardening for years and I've never had a definitive answer (probably because I've not asked). Now I have my 'farm' I would like to know.
I would say yes, go ahead, horse manure is an excellent addition to the compost heap. I mix it into my heap as well as using it directly on beds when I can get enough. All the books say not to put it straight onto crops until it has rotted down a bit, though.
