First allotment
Hello everyone
Im so excited I have my first allotment and can't wait to get started. I would appreciate any advice and tips. I have a 5 rod (whatever that is) which I shall be viewing next Tuesday.
The things I am thinking of planting are potatoes, onions, carrots, few herbs, strawberries.
So come on fellow allotmenteers advise away.
Regards
Chrissie

Kay Stewart Posted at 18:13 on Mon, 04/13/2009Hi Chrissie,
yr so lucky. I'm still on the waiting list in my area at the moment. When I get mine, I'm going to do raised beds to make it easier and I'm going totally organic.
I grow some veg and fruits at home at the moment and I grow my strawberries in hanging baskets - that way they don't get loads of slugs and bugs eating them. :-)
I'm also growing raspberries, blackcurrant and blackberries - if I get a good crop I'll have to learn to make jam!
I can't wait to get my allotment, yr so lucky. let me know how you get on.

Flat Cap Mad Posted at 23:01 on Tue, 04/07/2009Unless you live in an area where it is quite sandy Carrots will be quite hard to grow. The other stuff sounds fine, if you could build a raised bed etc that would make it easier.
Hi Flat cap mad Thanks for
