A use for flowers

Hello everybody
Grow plenty of tagetes among your tomatoes undercover and your brassicas outside the smell they give off helps to deter whitefly
The smell of lavender helps to deter green and blackfly and attracts bees etc to pollinate your flowering crops ie. peas and beans etc

Dahlias

Hello Zena
You can plant your dahlias now if they have not got long shoots on.
I put mine on damp compost without burying the eyes then as soon as I can see signs of growth set them out in the garden that way you know you are not planting duds
If they have got long shoots on remove and root in a propagator and then plant the tubers
Happy gardening
Lottyman

Dahlias and other flowers

Thank you Mr Clever Lottyman.

I will put them in some compost tomorrow.

My sweet peas have been a little disappointing. I bought a pack from a professional sweet pea grower at Tatton Show last July and only about half have germinated. Luckily I have some reserve really cheap seeds (3 packets for £1!!) and they are all coming up really well!

I've got tons of cosmos seedlings in the greenhouse - I adore them.
