From the beginning.........

"Happy Christmas and you are either going to love your present or really hate it !!" Those were the immortal words uttered by my husband on christmas morning and i have to say i was chuffed to bits with his inventive present .......yes he had signed me up for an allotment.
I was on a waiting list and we were told to expect to wait until March to be allocated a plot as there is a huge shortage in our area. After harrassing (only slightly!!) the allotment officer we were informed some more plots had become available in an area which wasn't our first choice but wasn't too far away, and as a result I was able to go and choose my plot last weekend.
To say its a challenge is a bit of an understatement, it hasnt been owned for at least 2 years and is very overgrown. It came complete with a very rickety shed (with no door!), a bath, an ironing board and several dead pigeons scattered around !! Still at least I can make it my own, I will be posting the progress (or not) as I go along and will no doubt be asking for lots of advice on the forums to help get me started!
