Have searched the past topics for grass but they're all concerning the elimination and disposal of the stuff.
Have just seen my first year and when I started I chose to cultivate my plot following the Deep bed method. That requires fixed paths criss-crossing the plot and, as I did not have a strimmer, I opted for carpet covered paths (have you seen the price of carpets?).
Now I wish to sow grass on them but I want a low growing hard-wearing type that will not require frequent cuttings.
Would be grateful to anyone who would share his or (lot of capable ladies around ) hers ideas/knowledge on the subject

Think carefully about sowing

Think carefully about sowing grass on your paths as most grasses will want to spread sideways into your beds! I use cardboard on my paths - it does tend to need replacing as it degrades but it is not hard to come by and requires less energy than strimming grass (it doesn't look as nice though, and I realise on some sites that can be an issue)

I sometimes grow some green manure in my paths (vetch is a good one)
There is a green manure called Hungarian Grazing Rye which I have never used, but it must be grass like - I wonder what that would be like on a path. It sounds hard-wearing if you can graze Hungarians on it! ;-)
