Healthy Allotmenteering
Some years ago I had rather a bad heart attack. When I left hospital and saw the doctor his last words to me were TAKE GENTLE EXERCISE and work up from there. When I got home I could not even climb the stairs but after a few weeks I had my first allotment which I went onto most days rain or shine. After two seasons on there and by now feeling much better I got chance of two allotments together which had not been gardened for six years I set about clearing those with Glyphosate and hard work The secret about the hard work bit though is when you feel a bit dodgy go and have a sit down and a natter to one of your neighbours picking up any tips along the way then back to the plot and carry on
At the end of my plots were two plots one with a 12 by 8ft shed on and the other has a 20ft poly tunnel on The tennant a retired policeman was diagnosed with terminal cancer He saw what a good job I had made of mine so he gave me first refusal for his. He got them turned over to me as we had loads of spare allotments at the time I paid him for the tunnel and the shed so I am the pround tennant of four allotments all together which I cherish very much and I am a 70 year old wrinkly still going strong
