Hello from Stoke on Trent
Hello everyone, thought I'd stop being a lurker and come out from behind the shed to say hello :o) It's lovely to find such a fab site.
I've been a keen gardener since I was allowed to grow a few spuds and hollyhocks in a little patch when I was a toddler, I'm now 36 and have had an allotment for a couple of years. My first one was on a very exposed site and nothing really grew there so I've recently taken on a different one behind my flat.
I've attached a couple of photos of the work we've done since Sunday.
This was Sunday morning when we walked on to the plot

and this was taken yesterday

I'm very lucky as my uncle has helped me with a lot of the heavy manual work and his next job (on his list lol) is to dismantle the rotten greenhouse and rebuild it for me.
I love every aspect of having an allotment, from digging to sitting in the sun after the digging, closing my eyes and listening to the bird song, total bliss!
I look forward to chatting to you all about our lovely plots
Theresa
Is that the same plot???
do you want to come & dig mine for me???
Thats some work you have achieved in a couple of days. Welcome to the site, how long have you been lurking behind the shed? Well done for posting your first post and we look forward to seeing all your porgress, also well done for managing to get photo's in your actual post I am yet to master this.
Most Kind Regards
Hayley
Hi, yes it's the same plot, I've been lucky this time as the soil is in very good condition and the digging so far has been easy(ish) no clay at all. I dig for a bit and then have a rest and continue like this throughout the day.
I've been lurking for a short while lol, just reading the forum, I don't normally post much on forums but the thread about closing down changed my mind.
Erm Michael I think I'll pass on your kind offer, I've still got lots to dig on my lottie :D
Theresa
Hello Theresa and welcome :)
My word your first photo looks somewhat like part of my garden plot at the moment lol. Wow what a difference you made in such a short time, it looks great! I too like Hayley have not been able to put photos up and so am interested in how you done it as I notice you used photobucket which I have a account with. Did you just copy and paste or something?
Margaret
Morning Margaret, thank you for your kind words, I think I just copied and pasted the direct link code. The img code doesn't work on here for some reason :(
I'm having a day off today, I've spent the last 9 days digging, labouring and painting brown goo on the shed. Yesterday I noticed my seedlings coming through which makes all the hard work worthwhile :o)
Hope it's a lovely sunny day where ever you are
Theresa
Hello Theresa, it has been a sunny day indeed here in Hertfordshire, thank you. I have spent the most of it working in my garden and am now a nice shade of pink lol.
Thank you for the info regarding the photo adding, i'm going to try and add some pics on here now :)
This is down the bottom of my garden which I cleared a couple of years ago and grassed over.

Looking forward to see photos of your crops when they are bigger :)
Have a good evening
Margaret
