How can I get a Plot?
Hi there,
I am very interested in getting an allotment?
However, can't find any contact details to inquire about one??
Can anyone help?
Thanks a lot,
Stephen
Contact your local council, I'm sure they will have a list of the allotments in your area, and a list of possible contacts.
But you will probably need to be patient, as there can be a long waiting list. I was lucky, I only had to wait 10mths.................
Hello Stephen welcome to the site
First of all I must say that I don't know how the allotment sites are run in Dundee but generally they are run by TOWN COUNCILS and a few sites are run privately I would advise you to get your name on the waiting list at the Council then go to the site where you would like an allotment and join the ALLOTMENT ASSOCIATION it only costs a couple of pounds or so a year. Attend any meetings or activities they have that way you will get to know and make friends with potential fellow plot holders.
Lots of plot holders are getting a bit long in the tooth and might be finding it hard to keep their plot in good order so by asking around you might be able to share with someone till a plot of your own comes available and in the meantime learn what to grow and how to grow it. So long as you keep your work clean and tidy I feel certain you would soon get a plot of your own and pick up some of the old timers wealth of knowledge in the meantime
Hope that helps
Lottyman
PS I am an old wrinkly of over 3 score years and 10 with 4 allotments in Derbyshire
Good luck with your search for a plot Stephen, all you need is a little patience, and hopefully the wait is not to long........
you were lucky D
I live in surrey and we waited just over Two years but the wait was worth it
Lucky I guess Mick, all depends on waiting list in your location.
