Micklefield Allotment Group

Hi All,

A small group of people in Micklefield, West Yorkshire would like to start some allotments, with potential to become at least one community project.

The former mining village used to have a number of allotments on private land which now have fallen into disrepair or have become communal green space. However, there is a privately held block of allotments which is very well used,mainly for poultry keeping, and a very active horticulture club, which holds shows throughout the summer.

Initially, the intention is to get a minimum of 6 people on the Electoral Role to request allotment space from the Parish Council. My understanding is that provision must then be made.
I would be pleased to hear from other groups who have gone through this process.
