I'm in Burton too, I'm sure there are more out there!
Maybe ur questions have been answered by now but re - 'manure' - depends on whether you're prepared to pay for it or go seeking it out. I've done both. If I hit on a free source, I'll let u know
would be prepared to pay for it. I am after horse manure though, due to all the problems with farmyard at the moment. Let me know if you hear of some. I want to get spreading soon, so it rots in well over the winter.
Hiya,
Lots of people use Sharratts who are in Walton, I believe. They deliver and charge about £30 per load, (at last quote earlier in year). I had some a couple of year's ago, which was mostly ok but had a lot of big stones in it. There's also a nice woman with a couple of horses at the back of her house, on the road between Branston and Byrkley garden centre, who sells it for 50p per compost size bag. I don't have a number for her, she puts it by the roadside. If I pass up that way soonish, I'll ask for her phone number if you're interested, let me know asap. Are there no contacts on the allotment noticeboard? Sharratts no is 01283 712225, I'm not able to guarantee/recommend them tho, best you ask them lots of questions. Their charges supposedly reflect the cost of diesel but I do have personal issues with profiteering the sale of horse-shit.
there is a very nice lady with a riding stables near Fradley who will let you collect as much as you want for free. her name is Deb Milner phone number 07970261565. if you phone and arrange a time she will sure you get the well rotted stuff.

vickilove Posted at 09:44 on Mon, 12/08/2008£30 a load is a bit steep, much prefer the bagged up lady. Yes send me details if you can.
My allotment is at North Stapenhill Allotment Association, on Woods Lane.
Where is yours?
