Hello everybody
Now that the very humid weather has arrived now is the time to spray the tatties with DITHANE 945 every 3 weeks to keep the dreaded blight away. I don't spray the earlies because they are usually harvested by the end of June but this year having been hit hard by the frost although they have recovered very well are not yet showing any flower
Also keep an eye on your outdoor tomatoes

My earlies are just about to

My earlies are just about to flower, they are huge plants though. The King Edwards are also about to flower, but are much smaller in size. I have noticed that my neighbour has blight on her spuds so we are on high alert, but all is well so far. I will be getting the dithane out just as a precaution.

Blight !!!!!!

Hello Hayley
Tell your neighbour to cut the tops off the tatties to within 6ins of the soil then get rid of the tops immediately. Delay digging the spuds for 3 weeks when all should be well
I will upload a picture of blight affected potato tops for the benefit of newbies and anyone who is not sure so check the blog page. Incidentally, once the tops are affected by blight they cannot be cured and it spreads like wild fire.
