Seers Rock dust..?
I have seen reports on rock dust over the past few months, I would like to know if any of the forum have tried it, and if so, what the results were?
Depending on the formula, it may appear to be an expensive effort if you wish to cover the whole plot on the allotment............?
I would not want to go down this route if the results prove to be of poor value......?
Hello data311
If you are not sure about the condition of your soil do a simple lime test kits are available form your local garden centre.
I think the dust you are referring to is Dolomite, it's an excellent soil conditioner.I use calcified seaweed which is available from your local garden centre I get mine from our local horticultural supplier in 25 kilo bags
GOOGLE Dolomite, then Calcified Seaweed, then Hydrated Lime, Then Carbonate of Lime Read all about them and what they are used for then the choice is yours.
When using any conditioner or fertilizer do not exceed the stated dose because it simply does not work any better.
When I apply anything to the plot I use 4 sticks 2metres long and place in a square then weigh out whatever I'm using and find a suitable container to put it in. When doing the next square put the container in the bag and fill up with the same amount
Hope that helps

Thanks Lottyman,
There is a lot of interesting info there, I am aware that I could possibly need to do a soil test.
The rock dust that I heard about is apparently volcanic crushed rock from Scotland and I first heard about it on the BBC programme Countryfile some months ago.
Here is a link to a web site http://www.selfsufficientish.com/seers.htm and I am sure it is concerning the couple I saw on Countryfile ?
I would just like to find out if any forum members had tried and tested it, and what there results were. ?
Would it be worth testing it on one portion of the plot and see how it compares with results from the rest of the allotment. ?
