Southport Flower Show and other stories

Was anyone at southport? Guess what, I was lol and ask me how? I was actually on the National Society of Allotment and Leisure Gardens stand!!!!!! can you believe it, no well it's true I could hardly believe it myself lol. It was such a wonderful afternoon the weather was fantastic, the show was amazing, and I got to meet hundreds of like minded people, I was answering questions from members of the public and we had a plot next to the stall complete with veg, chickens and even a bee hive, how cool is that!! I even met David Bellamy and I have to admit I was so star struck it was unreal lol, funny thing is when I came home and told my kids and their friends they were like David Who! I couldn't believe it but when I think about it as I was growing up he was always on the telly and we don't really see him anymore my kids are 16 and 18 and they'd never heard of him so they weren't very impressed lol but I was.
Being poor isn't funny though because if I'd had to pay to attend there would be no way I could've afforded the £17 entrance fee, it makes me laugh really how do the planners of these events expect normal poor people like me to be able to afford tickets weird I think lol.
Also while I'm talking about money I really wish I could afford an eglu, have you seen them, they are amazing, but at £395 price for the cheapest they are definatly out of my league but a girl can dream lol
While I was at southport I went into the Garden Answers magazine trade stand where they were having a Q&A session so I took my seat and raised my hand, basically they told me what I already knew lol and my melons are dead but I got a goody bag for my question so that was ok, I buy amateur gardener every week and they had a stand which was good to see and you got 2 magazines and 2 packets of seeds for £1 so you can't complain at that, another thing that did my head in was the cost of the catering it was £5 for an adult and that was just for a meat sandwich, burger or a pastie???? but I suppose the people charging have a captive audience because people are there all day and everyone has to eat, kinda galling though, so my advice to everyone attending would be to take a picnic.
Anyway if you can afford it I would recommend Southport Flower Show to anyone it was a great day out and some of the displays were amazing, I was especially taken with some of the bonsai trees which were just fantastic and so beautiful, I don't think I even saw a quarter of the show because it was huge.
I'm going to go to my allotment in a minute but it'd getting on my nerves lol I keep kinda putting off going round there because I know I'll have to bring home more cucumbers lol it really is getting to the stage now where I'm thinking of composting a couple of plants because I really don't know what else to do with them, I know it's my fault for planting so many seeds but I didn't know they would be so prolific lol, it's funny really here I am moaning about having too much and only a couple of months ago I was worrying that I wouldn't have any lol. I wonder what everyone else does with the stuff that they simply cannot use? I'd take some pictures to put on here but my computer has a virus and I'm using a friends which is very very slow so it would take hours and the usb to connect my camera is at the back of the tower which is a stupid place to put it if you ask me, anyway photos will have to wait until I have my computer disinfected lol
