Sweet peppers
I've been growing sweet peppers both at home and on the allotment. The ones at home have dark green leaves and huge peppers on them while the ones on the allotment are half the size, have light green, sickly looking leaves and have only one or two tiny peppers on them. They have looked like they are about to die at any time since I planted them out.
Anyone have any ideas why?

Hi
Are your peppers that you are growing at home protected and are the ones on the allotment outside, because the weather this year has been so changeable cold one day and hot the next maybe this is the reason.
My peppers down my allotment dont look to nice either. The leaves look ok its the stems, they have black bits. Im wondering if pepper plants can get blight? My tomatoes had it down the allotment. Its really sad since i had loads of tomatoes on it. Its my 1st year so didnt realise they were poorly till someone told me.
I have 2 green houses on my plot, the first is a glass greenhouse which has a couple of small triangular pieces of glass missing and the other is hexagonal plastic one, the peppers I have in the glass one on the floor by the door in a 5litre pot has had loads of peppers on it in fact more than I could ever use, and the ones in the plastic greenhouse are only just starting to flower so I think it might have something to do with heat and humidity,
The pepper that's doing so well is under glass but as I said there is good ventilation and the others that are not doing so well are inside and have no fresh air, if that even makes sense. It's funny because my melons and cucumbers, both have yellowing leaves and looking sickly too yet my aubergines, tomatoes, cape gooseberry and the herbs I have in my greenhouse all look very healthy with dark green leaves and lots of fruit. I was thinking about this the other day and next year I'm going to swap them all round so as the ones that look sickly this year, I'm going to move them and see if that helps and hopefully I won't be as naive next year and plant so many I'll just plant a couple of each instead of whole packets of seeds lol,
Just wondering how your peppers are doing? mine have beautiful big flowers on them but no fruit yet, I'm wondering if like my melons I should be pollinating them? anyway I hope your peppers are ok.
Hi Judy, I have grown Sweet peppers for a couple of years, never all that well mind you! but this year I have grown a few with seed saved from fruits bought in the Supermarket, I planted the seedlings in April in 5" pots and kept them in the Greenhouse, and have about a dozen fruits on Three plants, From my College days where they were grown in polytunnels I remember they need to be kept a bit warmer than traditional British Veg and reasonably moist, with good feeds (Tomato feed is Ok), perhaps packet seed may do better but all seeds seem to be so expensive these days dont you think, and remember for all indoor plants Beware the dreaded Spider Mite
I have grown sweet peppers again this year and I seem to be very lucky they are in a greenhouse and are loaded with huge green peppers. As I prefer yellow or red I am waiting for them to change colour.
Also I shall be selling them on our produce table at the show next week.
