Hi, when will everyone be putting their potatos in? I've got some cara and marris bard. Its my first go with potatos and i dont want to mess up putting them in too early or late. Cheers everyone.
Up here in Dundee i usually start putting in my potatoes in at the end of March or sometimes when the weather has been quite bad i watch to see when the local farmers start to plant there then i follow suit. So if in doubt keep an eye out for the farmer. Good Luck Dave.
hi im down in hull east yorks ,as with dave i start about the last week in march for early,s unless its very cold ,if you have to wait till april they usually still catch up as the ground will warm up too ,best wishes bob

My mum told me you should have your potatoes in by St Patricks day, but last year I planted mine 25th March and they turned out great. I only planted one variety a 1st early, but we had only just got our allotment, this year I have 1st earlies, earlies, 2nd earlies, main crop and lates lol, and I'm starting to plant mine , well the 1st ones are going in next weekend as I've bought a load of mushroom compost so the beds are all ready and warming up nicely. I can't wait.
make sure you chit them first.
Hello, I've got my first allotment this year and everyone keeps telling me to put my potatoes in on Good Friday. Sounds a bit late compared to what everyone else is saying but I might put my maincrop in then, and the earlies in a couple of weeks before that. So very soon I guess!
hi , for the last three years i have been putting my potato,s in on 17 th march and had very good crops each time with some very good yields from my kestral 2nd earlies. 5 rows this year to try and beat the blight if its another wet year .as the ground is still very cold at present ill leave it till the end of the month before putting anything in hope everyone has a good year regards bob
